This book has two volume set :-
Vol. 1 = xviii, 261 p.;
Vol. 2 = x, 314 p.;

Vol. 1 contains two chapters. Chapter I gives account of various devices employed by the hindus for denoting numbers. Chapter II deals with arithmatic in genral.
Vol. II of this work devoted to the history of Algebra in India. The use of Symbols--letters of the alphabet to donate unknows--and equations are the foundation of thwe of the algebra. The Hindus were the first to make systematic use of the letters of the alphabet to denote unknowns.
